Thursday, February 12, 2009 Home Inspectors to be Licensedby Agnes Pau (RE/MAX Sabre Realty Group) on Thu, Feb, 12, 2009 03:53 PM FINALLY!!! BC will be the first province requiring home inspectors to be licensed. This will begin on March 31st.
When I first started selling real estate, nearly 20 years ago, people bought homes without home inspections. It wasn't even something that was considered.
I remember the first ever home inspection that a client of mine had was done by a professional engineer. The buyer was not invited to attend the inspection and the report came back about 4 days later with all this technical stuff about the home that we had to phone the inspector to ask what he was talking about.
Then home inspections became recommended as part of every offer. Buyers were invited be present at the inspections, reports were available as soon as the inspection was done. Although there were many reputable inspectors, anyone can just call themselves a home inspector and the quality of inspector... |
